Welcome!

The Westport Area Skating Club has been an integral part of the Westport community for over 30 years.

The club offers learn-to-skate programs, adult skating, figure skating lessons, and hockey development programs. We are always happy to have new members and we look forward to seeing you on the ice!

Figure Skaters Celebrate Many Accomplishments!

This past weekend, the Westport Area Skating Club sent seven skaters to the 2nd Annual 2013 Shooting Stars Interclub hosted by the Frankford Figure Skating Club.

This competition saw over 300 skaters compete in more than 40 events. Westport was proud to report the following accomplishments by its entourage of skaters:

Kara Blair – 7th in Solo Spirals (Junior Bronze) and 1st in Team Spins ( Jr Bronze)
Emily Carlson – 1st in Solo Spiral ( Preliminary) , 2ndin Team Elements ( Preliminary), 1st in Team Spins ( Jr Bronze) and 2ndin Similar Pairs ( Preliminary)
Jazmine Scheuermann - , 2nd in Team Elements (Preliminary), 1st in Team Spins (Jr Bronze) and 2nd in Similar Pairs ( Preliminary)
Summer Clair – 3rd in Solo Spirals (Pre-Preliminary), Gold in Team Elements (Pre-Prelim) 
Gracie Kenney – 1st in Solo Spirals (Pre-Preliminary), Gold in Team Elements (Pre-Prelim)
Makenna Taylor – Canskate Elements stage 4, earning bronze certificates
Teegan Moore –Canskate Elements stage 4, earning bronze certificates

At the January 16th Low test day hosted by the Perth skating club, Summer Clair and Gracie Kenney passed the Canasta, their second dance in the Preliminary dance sequence.  Jazmine Scheuermann successfully completed the Ten Fox while Natalie Snider completed the requirements for elements in her Preliminary Freeskate. 

At the January 18th High test day held at the Athens skating club, Kara Blair successfully completed the Keats Foxtrot. This is her first of four required dances at the Junior Silver level. Her sister, Jamie Lynn, successfully completed her Silver Samba, completing her Gold Level of dance.
